Emerging from the University of North Florida in 2024 with a B.M. in Jazz Studies, Pablo Duque is an accomplished saxophonist, vocalist, and bandleader already making his mark on the vibrant Jacksonville music scene. His collegiate career was marked by significant contributions: after two years in UNF’s Jazz Ensemble 2, he ascended to a pivotal role as Lead Alto Sax in the prestigious Jazz Ensemble 1 for his final two years, demonstrating clear leadership. Beyond jazz, Duque actively participated in the UNF Clarinet Choir and performed with the UNF Wind Symphony.

His talent has garnered notable recognition, including scholarships from the Bob Washington Scholarship Foundation and the Wayne Barlow Scholarship via the Jacksonville Jazz Society. He secured a top-three placement at the North American Saxophone Alliance’s Jazz Competition in March 2024, preceding a memorable performance with UNF’s JE1 at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival the following month.

Duque’s stage presence extends to collaborations with an impressive roster of world-class musicians. His work within JE1 brought him alongside luminaries such as Michael Mossman, Joe Martin, Jim McNeely, Tim Hagans, Jon Irabagon, and Dennis Mackrel. Outside of his academic sphere, he has shared stages with esteemed artists including Teddy Adams, Ulysses Owens Jr., Benny Benack III, Scott Giddens, Eric Jones, Barry Green, Thomas Milovac, and a host of other distinguished artists. He is associated with the International Musician’s League, regularly performing with the Bay Kings Band and Emerald Empire Band. He is also the primary saxophonist for AR Production House, being featured in their compelling shows “The Velvet Underground Show” and “A Very Merry Christmas Ball.”

He hosts a popular jazz jam session at The Volstead, a staple speakeasy in downtown Jax, on the 2nd and 4th Fridays each month, starting at 9pm. You can also find him leading his two main projects: Reeds Out Loud!, a straight-ahead quintet performing two-saxophone arrangements from across the last century, and MR. DINOSAUR, an originals-exclusive Jazz Fusion/Rock project that has played in conjunction with the 2026 Jax Jazz Fest After Dark series.
